U is for Upper Island Cove

Upper Island Cove

The town was once known as “The Walled City” because it is built at the bottom of high cliffs. According to the 1965 Census, the population was fourteen. The current population is 1774.

  1. Wow, that's a big population growth in such a short space of time. Understandable, though, as it looks very attractive there.

  2. I find the place very attractive, it's amazing how quickly the population has grown as well, having the support of cliffs is a really good idea when they built it as well, great post as always Bay Girl.

  4. Upper Island cove is another great name for a place. You know, Newfoundland is really good at place names.

  10. The populations of the places you've mentioned, always seem small and that is very attractive to me. The little community I live in, has 32,000 people and it isn't that dang big!

  11. I'm picuring myself looking out a large window overlloking one of your scenic views, working on my latest mystery. Thanks for the image, and for reminding me how boring southeast Texas can be. Thanks for visiting.
