Witless Bay

Witless Bay has a human population of 1070, but just off its shores, the Witless Bay Seabird Ecological Reserve is home to thousands seabirds, including the largest colony of Atlantic Puffins, Herring Gulls, Great Black-backed Gulls, Black-legged Kittiwakes, Razorbills, Common Murres, Black Guillemots and the first known Northern Fulmars to breed in Newfoundland.

    1. According to legend, it was named Whittle's Bay, after an English Captin, when he died his widow and children decided to return to England. the area was then referred to as Whittle's Bay as Whittle-less Bay and eventually, it became Witless Bay.

  4. I don't like birds generally, but those puffins are cute. I would love to live in a town like the one in your picture - it looks so peaceful.

  10. When we lived in Iceland, we used to see a lot of puffins. A goofier set of birds you'll rarely see. But, they were the cutest things with huge beaks this side of Sarah Jessica Parker.
