First Loves...
Captain Ninja, Alex J. Cavanaugh is hosting a First Love Blogfest today so head on over and check it out! Link up and tell us about your first music love, first book love, first music love and first person love.
First Movie Love Would have to be The NeverEnding Story - Through a book, Bastian finds himself in Fantasia. Fantasia is facing oblivion from an enemy known as The Nothing. The Empress chooses Atreyu, to save their world.
First Music Love From the first music cassette I owned, the song Thriller. I can still recall parts of the dance.
First Love - Joey McIntyre from New Kids on the Block. We're talking obsessed - my walls and ceilings were littered with posters, t-shirts, magazine... I even wrote a few letters to the fan club! It ended with Joey when he didn't write me back, and Leonardo DiCaprio started on Growing Pains.
First Book Love I was in third grade, when Santa gave me Dracula. It was the kid's version of the classic, but to me it was a thick hard covered novel. I struggled with a few of the bigger words (underlining them in pencil to either ask my mother about, or look up in the dictionary) but I loved it, and have read Dracula half a dozen times since.

Oh my gawd, New Kids on the Block.. you must be about my little sister's age because she loved those guys, too. And Thriller? YES! What a cool, cool song and music video that was! I love the way it was redone in that Jennifer Garner movie where she wakes up and she's 30... so much fun!
ReplyDelete13 going on 30 - I'm 30ish going on 13!
DeleteThriller was cool.. New Kids? You are a young chick aren't you?
ReplyDeletenot that young... 34
DeleteDracula for Christmas? Guess that's not as bad as my husband giving me Carpenter's Prince of Darkness for Christmas. LOL
ReplyDeleteCarpenter's Prince of Darkness- wish my husband thought of that
DeleteJoey didn't return your letters? The jerk!
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in my blogfest.
I guess you could say he was my first heart break too :(
DeleteNKOTB rock it bak then. And NeverEnding Story was a top 5 pick for me.
ReplyDeletethere are still a bunch of their songs banging around in my memory

ReplyDeleteNeverending Story is a great movie.
Sorry- just can't get behind NKOTB. Never did like boy bands. Still don't. :)
I wanted that red jacket so badly!
DeleteEEK... I remember that era from my kids! Also remember the Thriller video scaring the crap out of my daughter when she was little. Every time it came on, she would either leave the room, or cover her ears and hide her head.
ReplyDeletetoo bad it scared her, was a great video
Deletehang tough... is that a new kids song?...
ReplyDeleteWe all love something...right!

DeleteLoved "Neverending Story", first heard the song on the radio, then saw the movie, then read the book. Great stuff! The "Thriller" album reminds me so much of my freshman & sophomore years in college!!
ReplyDeleteI don't recall hearing the song on the radio, but I may have
DeleteNew Kids On The Block are so awesome, great post Bay Girl, it's such a great idea to go over all of our first loves, Alex really made a good idea with this one.
ReplyDeletewhen NKOTB did their reunion tour a few years ago I couldn't get tickets... that Joe broke my heart a second time LOL
DeleteI watched The Neverending Story dozens of times with my children. The second one was a disappointment.
ReplyDeletethere are only a few sequels that are as good or better than the original
DeleteI loved Thriller! The video was great. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was great - still is really
DeleteA kids version of Dracula, how cool is that? I still love the never ending story to this day. It is a fantastic movie!
ReplyDeleteAndrea
there are a bunch of classics I think should be kids versions - its a great way to decide if you like something
DeleteI forgot that Leonardi di Caprio was on Growing Pains. It's a weird concept but yeah, an upgrade from Joey McIntyre. And Thriller is a great video. You were a smart, well-rounded kid.
ReplyDeletexoRobyn
and I'm still round :) (lol)
DeleteI play Thriller on the Wii (Michael Jackson Experience) almost daily. Love that song!
ReplyDeleteI want that game!
DeleteLove, love Thriller! I remembe when this album dropped and we had a video night sleepover to catch the premiere on MTV.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that Dracula was your fave book. I did not read it until I was in high school. It is a wonderful novel.
if I'm not mistaken, that book is still at mom's with the hard words underlined
DeleteHi Baygirl. I can share all those with you except your first love, lol. Great choices. One of the good things about this 'fest is that we get reminded of favourite things we'd forgotten, like the Never Ending Story. Priceless.
ReplyDeleteDenise
its also exposing a whole lot of "new" things too (depending on age)
DeleteI've not seen Neverending Story, but I definitely share your taste in 'Thriller' and Dracula! Great choices!
ReplyDeleteyou should definitely check it out! I love it :)
DeleteI think I was just a little too old for Neverending Story--I haven't seen it, even though it appeals to me. It just hit when I was the age I thought I was too old for all that, but BEFORE I was mature enough to know that didn't matter.
ReplyDeletenever too old for anything :)
DeleteOh, I love Thriller, but as a kid the video scared me to death! I learned the dance moves, though! But I always liked the video to Bad better.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember the Bad video - guess what I'm going to be watching in a little while?
DeleteThriller is a great song. I love when radio stations play it around Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI like when radio stations play it randomly during the year and you see people fighting the urge to dance to it in the stores
DeleteHi Baygirl, I see Thriller out there a lot. Seems to be one of the most loved set of songs.
ReplyDeleteits a classic song -and the video was great

Great picks.

DeleteGreat picks. My ex husband was so in love with The Never Ending Story that he wanted to name our son Bastian. We ended up going with Aaron.
