Feeling Guilty

newugliescoversmallI'm feeling a little guilty for putting my blog on hold so I could spend all my free time plowing through Scott Westerfield's Ugly series.... not too guilty, but guilty.

Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can't wait. Not for her license -- for turning pretty. In Tally's world, your sixteenth birthday brings an operation that turns you from a repellent ugly into a stunningly attractive pretty and catapults you into a high-tech paradise where your only job is to have a really great time. In just a few weeks Tally will be there.

But Tally's new friend Shay isn't sure she wants to be pretty. She'd rather risk life on the outside. When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world -- and it isn't very pretty. The authorities offer Tally the worst choice she can imagine: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. The choice Tally makes changes her world forever.

Its a dystopian series that takes conflicted characters and plastic surgery to the extreme.  At times I wanted to slap a few of the characters and steal their hover boards, I think I might have even spoken out loud to Tally while I was reading.  The series was a quick read (4 books in 10 days) and it kept me wanting more.

  2. This series sounds really different Bay Girl, I don't blame you for putting things on hold to read it because the plot is just so interesting, seems like the kind of book that would hold your interest for a good while.

  3. You should feel very guilty. Letting your blogging resposibilites go will not be tolerated!! Except if you are a superhero.

  4. If I was that caught up in a series, I'd put life on hold, too.

  5. I quit after the first book because it just didn't hold my interest. But I know plenty of people who just love them!

  6. Nothing to feel guilty about! Reading is one of the best things we can do for ourselves.
