What is spam?

If you google spam, you get a few difference results, this is what  Dictionary.com has to say....

Verb Send the same message indiscriminately to (large numbers of recipients) on the Internet.

You will also learn that Spam is cheap, crazy tasty and a favorite for its shelf life.

That's not the spam I would like to b!t#h about today... I am referring to spam the verb, those emails saying you've just won a million dollars, telling you how badly you need that little blue pill, and countless other products you just can't live without.  Lately I've been getting more than my fair share of spam in my blog comments, stuff  like:

Wonderful article! That kind of into should be shared around the web.

What's a girl to do?  Change it so only registered users can post comments?  Now instead of anonymous comments, I'm getting the same comments from fake user names.  4 this morning!  

I hate word verification, it slows you down, and half the time I enter them wrong because of the blurry slanted letters.  So comment moderation is looking like the only resort I have left.

Are you bombarded with spam?  How are you dealing with it? Do you use comment moderation?  Do you like it?  ARE YOU A ROBOT?  ARE YOU HERE TO SPAM ME (please don't)
