Is it summer yet?

I'm starting to get really sick of all the snow.

So... I'm turning my attentions to warmer climates...

by growing an avocado

AND a pineapple!

wish me luck :)

(Husband is already taking bets on how long they will last.)

  1. You'll probably have better success than I would!

  2. Today Southwestern Ontario is in the midst of what the media like to call a "weather event" with the possibility of any kind of precip you can think of. We'll just stay inside, close the curtains, turn up the heat and ignore it. Good luck with your agricultural venture.

  3. Good luck with the growing Baygirl! We actually have a good bit of warm weather here today which is weird as it's still February so just wait a little while longer and soon enough you'll be basking in the sun! I've followed you on Twitter too.

  4. Some people say it's boring (weather wise) where I live, but if I want snow, I'll go find some. I had no idea you could grow a pineapple like that! Avocados, I know about! Hope things are going well for you and the family...

  6. We've had practically no snow and I love it. The way I figure it, tomorrow is March. So, winter has had its chance. Screw it. Bring on spring!

  7. When I was a child in Illinois, my mother did the same: pineapple and avocado. The pineapple did great! She actually got a tiny pineapple from it! The avocado didn't last. Needed other avocado trees, or needed dry hot summers.

    Good luck!!

    1. I don't have dry hot summers, more like short wet ones. Good on your mom getting a little pineapple, I'm crossing my fingers

  8. We had an avocado that started doing really well. But then it died. Too bad, because it was starting to look cool.

I haven't tried the pineapple, though.

  9. You've found creative ways to distract yourself. I think they won't last long at all, once they're ripe. That is, I have faith in you, and that avocado and pineapple. They exude determination and resilience.

Sorry for your never-ending winter. I'm sending sun rays to you from CA.
