they're under attack

Long weekends usually mean I head out to my parents, this weekend was no exception.  We were all settled down to watch a movie when...

“AGGGHHHH!!!  Come here. Quick!  HURRY!  Get it!" echoed through the halls.

Seriously.  For a woman who raised four daughters she shouldn't be squeamish about little critters. When a spider is anywhere near, my mother’s reaction is beyond heebie jeebies, its one of genuine fear.  She jumps up from where she is, stops what she’s doing, and can focus on nothing else until the beast flushed out to sea.

Since no one in the room was willing to bludgen the beast with half a sheet of paper towel, my mother and sister grabbed the nearest glass and trap the eight legged ogre beneath its dome.

Certain their safety has been restored, the movie resumes, eyes flickering back to the bowl to be sure it did not escape.

You don't want to know what happens when a butterfly invades the house.

  1. I'm kind of intrigued about the butterfly thing haha, that's so crazy that your family are so freaked out by insects although it is partially understandable at the same time to don't feel too bad. :) Great post Baygirl, at least you managed to get that spider trapped!

  2. I don't think I'd be able to relax and watch a movie knowing there was an eight legged creepy watching me. Bleh! It's a pretty funny thought though. :)

  5. My sister is out of control terrified at the sight of a spider. From the passenger seat I once leaned over, took a huge green spider off her leg and threw it out the window. I knew it was remove the spider or lose my life and my brand new, five speed, turbo charged sport car. I don't like spiders, either. She never knew.

  6. I'm the same way though, but with ALL bugs. I loathe spiders but crickets really make me shriek with the heebie jeebies. My fiance' doesn't even like to kill spiders....I think I have to dispatch them way more than he does. He does the ones on the ceilings only b/c I can't reach.

  9. I know----I'm pretty much the same. It is funny though when we think of the size comparison between an adult human and a spider or bug--- and the fact that most, if not all, creepy crawly critters in our neck of the woods are totally harmless!!
