Today I'm taking part in the What's your Chocolate? Blogfest hosted by M. Pax, Laura Eno, Brinda Berry, and Ciara Knight.
The task - post about your favorite chocolate – what it means to you, where and when you indulge, a favorite memory – anything chocolate-related.
Well my favorite chocolate is from Newfoundland Chocolate Company of course! Each piece melts in your mouth, and offer a unique taste of the island with local partridge berries, blueberries, and my favorite - bakeapple!
I had a chance to talk with Brent, the head chocolate officer and ask him a few questions:
How did the Newfoundland Chocolate Company come about?
Company started out of a passion for great chocolate - pure chocolate without additives and chocolate made from quality, single sourced cocoa beans. I was an eater of chocolate then, not a maker, but frustrated at the lack of options available in Newfoundland for great chocolate and further frustrated that the really good ones were being made half a world away. So I started to make chocolate, as a hobby and that was ten years ago. I trained as a chocolatier and turned the passion into a business about 4 years ago.
Where do you get your inspiration?
We're inspired by fine chocolate, by Newfoundland natural flavorings such as the bakeapple you are so fond of and by pure chocolate that makes your close your eyes and say "oh my!"
Where do you see yourselves in 10 years?
In ten years? We want to bring Newfoundland Chocolate to the world and show that Newfoundland is known for many incredible things - our unrivalled natural beauty, our rich colourful history and culture, our wonderful music, our fabulous people... and our incredible, world class chocolate.
Since I love my island, and I love Newfoundland Chocolate... I'm gonna give away a box of Newfoundland Chocolate Company chocolates!!! To enter, you must be a follower of my blog, and leave a comment below, for an extra entry please tweet about the giveaway (and leave me the link). Winner will be randomly chosen Sept 30th. :)
