I like the green ones

I'll let you in on a little secret... Willy Wonka and I go wayyyy back.

I have what you might call, a candy addiction. Gummy Bears, Lolly Pops, Peppermints, Swedish Fish, Airheads, Sour Belts, Starburst, Nerds,Laffy Taffy, Sweet Tarts, Licorice, Jelly Beans,Skittles, Turkish Delight, Wine Gums, Pixie Stix, Bottle Caps, Gobstoppers, Sour Patch Kids.... I love them all.

Yesterday during one on my frequent trips to Bulk Barn, I spied something new chocolate covered jubes (there is nothing better than candies covered in chocolate right?)

Somehow, I managed to avoid their siren call last night and packed them into my school bag instead.

During my 30 minute morning commute, their call became too much and I greedily snatched them out of their hiding place and tore into the bag as if my very existence depended on them.

*At this point, I would like to point out that as much as I love candy, I detest black candy.

I popped the first chocolate covered jube in my salivating gob and bit down. Instead of the satisfying rush of sugary, gummy chocolaty goodness I was assaulted by the ick of black candy slightly masked by chocolate. So I did what any thirty something who bit into something they didn't like would do, I swore and spit the contents into my hand then looked for something to wipe my hand in.

Round two, another black one! Quickly spit that one out and went for round three. The chocolate covering was turning fun into a warped game of russian roulette, but I refused to let it get the better of me. Number three was a green one, my favorite! Contentment. Number four was a red. Number seven yellow. Before I could jump on number eight I was pulling into the school parking lot.

The plastic bag was rumpled up and stuffed back into my bag, and I was off. I wasn't even to through the main door when someone looked at me a little odd. "Umm, you have a little something on your chin."

I am just that cool, I walked into school with chocolate drool on my chin.

  1. I wouldn't be embarrassed. Own that chocolate chin with pride. I did not know of this chocolate confection. Sounds good. Except for the black ones. I find black and gummy are never a good combo.

  2. This fourty somethinger would've done the same. That's tragic. Tragic, I say.

  4. I hope you aren't talking about "black" licorice...
I often pop a malted milk ball and a piece of licorice into my yap at the same time. It's heaven...
