V is one of the tricky letters - V is for folklore about Visitors!
If a piece of cutlery falls to the floor from your table, you will have a visitor before the meal is finished.
If you lift the damper off your stove and a flanker (spark) pops out and lands on the floor, its a sign of company.
When a group of people are visiting, the first one that the cat glares at will die soonest.
The first one is familiar to me, same in Romanian folklore :)
ReplyDeleteromanian folklore- there's something I know nothing about :)
DeleteThe first one the cat glares at? How can you tell - a cat always looks like he's glaring.
ReplyDeleteor plotting revenge

ReplyDeletethat's a new one for me :)
DeleteI haven't heard these before, but they're interesting.
ReplyDeleteI've also heard, I think, that if your nose is itching, you're going to have guests...I think that's how it goes. :)
I heard that if your nose if itching you're gonna sneeze :)
DeleteWe have two cats so I guess two guests are dead.
