Back in December I did Fat Fab Fuel Ornament Exchange, while I was following the rules and learning about my wonderful partner, I discovered The Lean Green Bean's Foodie Pen Pals, and of course I signed up :) The rules are pretty simple: on the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. You have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. Sounds fun right?
Well it was! I had a ball - I was paired with Mary; a non blogging, wine drinking, scrabble playing, fresh food lover living in BC. Through our email correspondence I also learned we would get along fabulously if we were not on opposite ends of the country.
Mary sent me a great package filled with delicious goodies :)
Smoked wild sockeye salmon, chipolte powder, wildflower honey, coconut curry lentil soup mix and her hubby Paul's dried okenagen pears.
Paul - those pears were amazing!!
Now this is where I have to apologize - I missed the part of the exchange where I was supposed to post on the last day of the month :( I also missed the deadline for this month's sign up deadline, but I won't miss next month's. THANKS again Mary, it was wonderful having you as my partner, and for the goodies.
I off running the Hypothermic 1/2 when I was supposed to be blogging - if I had my shite together I would have scheduled this post, but I never claimed to have my shite together :)

The mailman never comes on time...
Last week my sister and I took place in an online auction for some Newfoundland Art Prints. We won on the same day, we paid on the same day and the prints were shipped on the same day. Hers were delivered yesterday.
Today should be my day.... perfect, I'm not working today.
All morning I'm perched in a chair with the best view of both the driveway and the door, waiting.
The minute I give in to my bladder, waddle off to the washroom and drop my pants, the doorbell rings. Seriously, the mailman could not have been timed better!
By the time I pulled my pants back up and got to the door, all that was there was the parcel pick up slip telling me my package will be available tomorrow after 3pm.
Stupid 3 cups of coffee, made me miss my prints.

I got mail!!
Well, technically I got it on Friday, but my daughter's babysitter "hid" it from me. I was arsing around this morning, looking for some text book or another, and I see a cardboard box wedges between the couch and bookcase... hummm that don't belong there. Knowing full well that mother's day is next week, I resist the urge to unearth the box immediately, instead I wander down to the family room and check on husband and kiddo. They're watching TV, the coast is clear.
I hurry up over the stairs and back to the box. Yank it out of its hiding spot, its addressed to me, which means fair game. I'm not having it sit in the corner a whole nother week. Mine, mine! Like a child at Christmas the box gets one, two shakes, then I'm face and eyes into it.
I got a care package! YEAH! I got 3 bottles of bakeapple jam, 1 bottle of partridge berry, a packet of savoury, and a little tub of gravy base.
So here I sit with the jar of jam on one side of me and a spoon in my mouth, trying to figure out how many calories are in bakeapple jam! At this point I don't think it really matters the jar is 1/2 gone, and I'm not sharing.
Just wish I found the box Friday, could of had some toutons with the jam.
