The adventures of Baygirl and the deathly looking hydrangea.

During our Girl Guide meeting last night, we went out the back enterance of the church to plant some pink tulip bulbs, as part of our Earth Day, community service, thank you to the church for letting us use their space. As I stepped out the back door, I nearly tripped over the compost bin. (note: I never claimed to be co-ordinated) Sitting on top of the compost bin there were 4 pots with very wilted, deathly looking plants. The three on top were stinky Easter Lillys beyond salvation, but on the bottom of the pile, I saw a little speck of blue. It was a very sickly looking blue hydrangea.

So I did what any not so sane, want to be gardener would do... I picked up the pot and gave it a gentle shake, and carried it over to my car. I took the foil off the bottom of her pot, filled the kitchen sink with water, and spent a good 15 minutes removing any dead leaves and telling Hydi that I intend to save her, not to give up yet!

This morning, when I walked into the kitchen I was greeted by Hydi's floral scent. She has perked up a little, and is now sitting on my front step. I'm going to bring her back inside for the night, and if she can pull it togeather, I will be planting her in the ground May 24 weekend.

Other news, I have a ton of sprouts! Green onion, parsley, cilantro, and dill pooked their little heads up out of the soil. Still awaiting the first signs of life from sunflower, tomato, pepper, chive, lavender, and the flowers... My bright blue spray painted pots will soon be filled with dirt and seedlings. YEAH

Crafty me!

Husband and Kiddo think I'm off my rocker! The words are for the most part back in my head. Now I'm just forgetting big things. I stopped into wal-mart for some mulch and dirt, some glass gems for Rosemary and a few odds and ends. We got home and I couldn't find the glass gems, or half of my other purchases... turns out "safety dance" came on the radio while I was in wal-mart, I was so distracted by the tune I started dancing. Kiddo put her head down and hurried out of the store, Husband was carrying 2 bags of mulch, and I danced right out of the store, without my purchases.

After going back to wal-mart and retrieving my bags. I began rummaging through our recycling, and pulling out all the clamshell fruit containers, coffee cans, and even meat trays. Then spent an hour locked in the garage with a can of spray paint. After the containers dried I stabbed holes in their bottoms and began filling them with dirt, only to talk to each little seed as I tucked it in. I was only wishing them luck, and hoping they come out to play soon. (apparently not everyone does that).

We'll just blame it on my ADD.

This is Rosemary. Yesterday she was just a regular scratched up bowling ball. Today she is spectacular!

I'm so crafty! At some point this week I'm going back to the thrift store and searching out some kind of stand for her. Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe a candle holder type of thing.

RAOK today: entertaining the staff at wal-mart with my absent minded dancing. Ok today's is lame, but they laughed!

Who let the Gnomes out?

I came home form school today and piled my arms full of the garbage that was strewn across the back seat. I guess I piled a little too high because on the way to the door I dropped my lunch bag. When I bent to pick it up, I noticed that one of my rose bushes have been freshly snipped... odd right.

I opened the door and flicked all the garbage in the house and went for a closer look. Turns out that not one, but EVERY one of my rose bushes has been freshly cut, and I know its not me, and its definatly not husband, but in came in and called him just to be sure.

Either there is one giant rabbit on the street with a huge appetite, a garden gnome is on the loose, or one of the neighbors doesn't think I know how to properally care for rose bushes (they would be right). A question I will persue further next week.

My ROAK today was inspired by another blogger, Mainland Streel Today, I went into Tim's and paid for an extra large coffee, BUT the coffee was not for me. I told the girl at the counter to give it to the next person to walk in after I left. Hopefully I made somebody's happy tuesday.

2 exams down, 3 to go!

What kind of a day was it? ODD

Yep its been a queer one.

I had my orthopedic assessments OSCE this afternoon, so around 10:30 I started to school so I could meet up with a few classmates and practice my speil and go over how each condition presents, what special tests to do etc. Well, one of my youngies (cutie little girls in their early 20's) took my iPhone while I was not looking and started snapping random pictures and uploading them to facebook, all the pictures are of boobs and butts.

I did my OSCE and headed home. I got home, and listened to my messages "Dawn, its your mother, do you know there are inappropriate pictures on your facebook wall, I think you should remove them before your father sees them." Lovely, but I'm not removing them, instead I tagged them all.

Kiddo arrived home from school, and instead of filling me in on the events of her day, states that its snowing. Last weekend the weather was amazing. The tulips are up in my yard, people are wearing shorts, and its snowing.

Off I go to get husband. We stop in and rent a few movies, pick up a bottle of wine, and on the way home...

"Gobble Gobble!" I spotted a wild turkey just wandering across the middle of the road. I was so excited to see he wandering around I forgot what he was.

I'm chaulking it up to stress, finals started today and continue until next friday. I am trying to pack so much information in my little brain that all the regular stuff just falls out. Last semester I forgot what a watch was, I was in the store, pointing at my wrist, asking the sales lady where I could find the batteries for the round thing, that goes here and tells me what time it is. I never claimed to be sane.

Look at Mii

A few months ago we started talking about getting a Wii for the kiddo for easter, and then we bagan on a Wii treasure hunt. Since Christmas trying to locate one of these things is damn near impossible. So when husband and I were walking through Costco and found a Wii Fit just sitting there, we snatched it up. I was so excited I nearly jumped out of my pants! That would not have been pretty, security would have been called and people would have nightmaress of seeing me pantless, it’s a good thing I walked calmly to the cashier.

We brought it home, and it took all the self-restraint I could muster not to rip into it, after all it was intended as a present, and easter was still a month away.

Well patience is not a strong suite of mine. That Wii didn't last 4 days! When we opened it, we all took the time to make our Mii in our likeness and we played for hours.

Now, if you don’t own a Wii Fit, let me just explain... The first step is to create a Mii character for the Wii Fit to use. My Mii character started out cute and skinny. Then I got on the Balance Board and got my measurements taken...

Ouch! Wii fit is nasty! I stood there getting measured, and it seemed harmless. Then I was told to stand still while a little red dot wobbled on a grid. So within 2 minutes of standing on my balance board, I have a pudgy Mii, not great balance... then the Wii pipes up and tells me I'm obese, and the best part, my Wii age is 13 years older than I am in real life.

Well, I'm pretty stubborn, I got back on that Wii every day for an entire month. I started unlocking higher levels in hula hooping, flying like a chicken, and my cutesy little trainer was starting to talk nicer to me. Then I got bored... 14 days, no Wii.

I hopped on this morning, I had perfect balance, I beat my record in meditating, and my Wii fit age is 10 years younger than I really am! My Wii still have love handles and I'm still obese... talk about hard on the ego. Makes elliptical seem friendly.

Not having saw a live person all day, I opted to clean out the closets and the toy box, 2 garbage bags are enroute to the red cross now.

Rain Rain and more Rain

I like the rain!
I love the sound of it. It's the most beautiful natural sound. It catches my breath.
It's calming - I can sit and listen for hours.
And the smell - it's something surreal.
It's hard to explain, but there's something special in it.
I like how voilent a thunderstorm can be. How it can start and stop so suddenly.
Rain makes puddles and rainbows.
Rain feeds the flowers and makes everything clean.

This morning I dind't have class, so after dropping off my husband to work, and my daughter at school, I headed to Chapters in search of a book on stretching (found a great one, but that's not the point). With my new personal challenge, I parked at the far end of the lot, so the lots closer to the building were open for the people who were rushing around and those with children, I mean it was raining but I was not in a hurry. I wandered around for about an hour, made my slection and headed to get checked out. When I left Chapters I held open the door for 3 people, and didn't get a second glance, they just bustled on in. Ok. Home I headed for home. I opened the car and inhaled the fresh scent of rain before hopping out, weaved around the puddles and bounded up the front step, I just put the keys in the door when the soaking wet mail man turned around the side of my house, he was dripping! So, without even thinking, I told him to stay where he was, it would only take a second, ran into my house and grabbed a rain poncho out of my camping supplies. He was a little hesitant at first, but he pulled it on over his head and mail bag and off he went! I knew there was a reason I bought 6 rain ponchos for my camp kit when there are only 3 members of my family, other than the fact they were on sale for $2 each.

I spent the rest of the morning in the back yard wrapped up under the awning watching the lightening and reading my new book. Yep it was a good start to my day.

On a seperate note, I got the mark from my anatomy OSCE tonight... ROCKED IT! 92%!

People suck...

People are fascinating. There are so many ways you can choose to live your lives, and yet there are some people who only have 1 goal... to be a giant arsehole!

I wish I could use another, less colourful word, but I can't think of another word to get my point across. There are people who just hate their lives to the point that they cannot stand for you to do anything but hate yours too.

Let me emphasize the need for colour with an example of pointless unkindness... I pulled my rain coat on, hurried out the door into the rain, got into my car and started my 25 minute commute to school. Its spring, and there is construction everywhere, so I was re-routed. Then I realized I forgot my travel mug of happy juice, so, I pulled into the Tim's next to the exit for the highway (I have to state that the drive thru was buisy, so I went in and ordered, maybe 2 minutes inside). Surprise, surprise! When exiting I noticed that my car was partially blocked by another car, (whose driver was waiting for someone else to come out) I hopped into my car, expecting the waiting driver to move his vehicle just one meter away, but guess what? He didn't even blink! He just stayed there, and watched me tormenting myself trying to reverse out of my parking spot, next to the drive thru line, in the rain! Common Courtesy.

Ok, that's nothing really to get my back up over, but it just got me. The whole way to school I kept thinking, Why are people like that? Why do people not take the time and do aomething nice for other people? Why can’t we just be civil and enjoy life? Why the name calling and the backstabbing? Why all the complaining?

I grumped along today, not really saying a lot to anyone, taking it all in. Yep people are arseholes sometimes
