Proud Mudder!
Kiddo competed in the speak offs today and won first place in the Junior Division! She will be going on to represent her school later this month. I couldn't be prouder....so, I'm posting her speech, the whole 4.5 minutes of it!
Close your eyes let your mind go blank. Let time fly by. Just think of a magical place where the sky is baby blue, the grass is as soft as fur and the sun bathes your skin with its glowing rays. Now SNAP OUT OF IT!
Imagination, it is your ticket to another world, another time, another place. I think imagination is the most important thing in the world. well Next to chocolate.
Imagination is the ability to form an image in your mind of something that you can’t see, feel, taste or smell. It is the ability to build scenes, objects or events that do not exist, are not present or have happened in the past. Everyone has some imagination ability. In some people, it is highly developed, like in me. In others, imagination may be weak, like parents or bosses, or even principles, but I didn’t say that. OK?
Imagination makes it possible to experience a whole new world inside your mind. It lets you look at any situation from a different point of view, and lets you explore anything you can possibly think of.
You can use your imagination in many different ways. One way is daydreaming. But you have to be careful with daydreaming, because too much can make school work impossible, I should know. But Just the right amount of daydreaming can provide happiness, calmness and adventure.
Your imagination lets you live your life with no worries, Hakuna Matata if you will. In your imagination you can travel anywhere, at the speed of light, with nothing in your way and no one telling you that you can’t do something. You can discover lost islands, swim with the sharks or fly over the London Bridge. It can make you feel free, from work, your chores and anything else you don’t want to do.
Your imagination can use all of the five senses and feelings. You can imagine a sound, a taste, a smell, a touch, a feeling or an emotion. Some people use mental pictures, other people find it easier to imagine feelings, and other people use all of their senses.
Having a strong imagination does not make you a daydreamer or impractical. No way!
Imagination is very important in life. We all use imagination whether we know it or not. We use our imagination whenever we plan a party, or a trip. We use it when we describe something, write a letter, tell a story or bake a cake. Imagination is necessary for inventing an instrument, designing a dress, building a house, painting a picture or writing a book. The creative power of imagination has an important part in our lives.
Imagination can also help us face our fears and master them. If you are afraid of a monster, you can make up a story about hunting down the monster and scaring it, or cast a spell and turn that monster into a frog.
As delicate as bubbles , so is imagination. If we don’t take care of it, POP! we can destroy its magic, but if we send our imagination out into the world, we create beauty for everyone.
I think a world without imagination would be very boring. What would we watch? There wouldn’t be any television or movies if somebody didn’t use their imagination to make them. What would we wear? Clothes would be boring and dull if someone didn’t take the time to imagine the latest styles. What would we read? Books wouldn’t be any fun without someone imaging the stories. Imagination is everywhere!
In the words of my favourite Doctor “Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!” ~Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! Thank you for listening, and keep on imagining.
Not bad for an 11 year old if I do say so myself.

I ain't lion
The other day I lied . So now I'm owning up to it. I'm comming clean!
1) I WAS indeed kicked out of Peal Jam's sound check. They are one of my favorite bands, so when they showed up to preform at the stadium where I worked I made sure I was on the floor. It was heaven, until my boss walked by, and told me to get back to work.
2)I DID have stiches in my togue. Its my earlies memory of pain I was fal-pushed down a flight of stairs and my teeth went through my tongue, 4 stiches age 5. (I still grimace when I see someone with their tongue pierced.) For the record, I was sedated while they stitched it up.
3) I DID steal from a grocery store. ONCE. It was purely by accident I had a case of water under my cart and the sales lady didn't see it. I was out to the car and felt so badly, I marched back in and paid for it. (I grew up in a grocery store, and all I could think about was walking out of my dad's store and not paying.)
4)I CAN NOT fit an entire fudgesicle into my mouth at once, I have a terrible gag reflex, I can't even brush my teeth without gagging. But I'm sure it would make a great party trick if I could.
5)I DO make up words, all the time. Mostly it occurs when I'm frustrated or tired or bored, ok it happens a lot. I have invented some very interestinglike swear words.
6)I DO wander around my neighborhood in various stage of unkemptlessness; like my new word; I'm just more of a creature of comfort than fashion. I live in my pj pants.
So, if like TS you selected #4 as my fib then you were correct! I would like to tag Joe Cap, dbs, and Copyboy to play along. (I would tag TS too, but I know Robyn did that already).

The people that you meet...

These are the people in your neighborhood, your neighborhood, your neighborhood. These are the people in your neighborhood, they people that you meet when you're walking down the street, the people that you meet each day!!
I love my neighbors, brought kiddo home from her book club tonight and found squashes and zucchini on my front step. Now to figure out who left them there, was it Oscar, Grover, Snuffleupagus or Gordan? (yeah that was a Sesame Street reference, none of my neighbors are really named Snuffleupagus.)
I think I might have bumped into Howie Mandell tonight at the University, like literally nearly took him off his feet. Husband thinks I'm nuts, and since I had the encounter enroute to the bathroom, and I left my phone with husband at Tim Horton's, I didn't get a picture, BUT Howie was at the University doing a stand up show, so it could have been him. I know I almost took someone off their feet.

Out and a'boat in Newfoundland
2 days left to my vacation in Newfoundland, and then I'll get my act togeather I promise! Being around the Bay has its up and its downs. Ups - I'm HOME, downs - no WiFi for 99% of my vacation. I was driving today and got some reception and iPhone nicely told me today that I had 42 unanwsered texts. I won't tell you how may unanwsered emails I have.
This is the view from my parents front step.
The wind farm in my community (I still say it was constructed to blow the fog out to sea)

Typical foggy day laundry

The evening fog burning off the Cape

The other side of the Cape, without the fog!

Chamber Cove
There are many more shots to come, but since I only gots 2 days left, they will have to wait!

Rain Rain and more Rain

I like the rain!
I love the sound of it. It's the most beautiful natural sound. It catches my breath.
It's calming - I can sit and listen for hours.
And the smell - it's something surreal.
It's hard to explain, but there's something special in it.
I like how voilent a thunderstorm can be. How it can start and stop so suddenly.
Rain makes puddles and rainbows.
Rain feeds the flowers and makes everything clean.
This morning I dind't have class, so after dropping off my husband to work, and my daughter at school, I headed to Chapters in search of a book on stretching (found a great one, but that's not the point). With my new personal challenge, I parked at the far end of the lot, so the lots closer to the building were open for the people who were rushing around and those with children, I mean it was raining but I was not in a hurry. I wandered around for about an hour, made my slection and headed to get checked out. When I left Chapters I held open the door for 3 people, and didn't get a second glance, they just bustled on in. Ok. Home I headed for home. I opened the car and inhaled the fresh scent of rain before hopping out, weaved around the puddles and bounded up the front step, I just put the keys in the door when the soaking wet mail man turned around the side of my house, he was dripping! So, without even thinking, I told him to stay where he was, it would only take a second, ran into my house and grabbed a rain poncho out of my camping supplies. He was a little hesitant at first, but he pulled it on over his head and mail bag and off he went! I knew there was a reason I bought 6 rain ponchos for my camp kit when there are only 3 members of my family, other than the fact they were on sale for $2 each.
I spent the rest of the morning in the back yard wrapped up under the awning watching the lightening and reading my new book. Yep it was a good start to my day.
On a seperate note, I got the mark from my anatomy OSCE tonight... ROCKED IT! 92%!
